How To Turn a Dream into reality

How To Turn a Dream into reality

Hey Girl, Hey!

As we begin to start looking ahead at the year 2021, I believe it is truly important to find the time to reflect on the past year and to plan for future.

Let’s do that together!

As many of you can guess, my 2020 didn’t go quite as expected and that is perfectly fine. There is no doubt that COVID brought on some uncertainty in certain areas of my life such as:

  • personal and family relationships
  • not being where I thought I would be in my career
  • feeling overwhelmed and pressured
  • feeling attacked intentionally by people who I love
  • feeling not good enough
  • self-doubting
  • overall confusion

However, all of these uncertainties truly had a silver lining in self discovery and overall awareness of my personal goals.

Here are my resolutions for 2021:

  • Engage in more healthy reciprocal relationships. It is a normal process of “adulting” to grow closer and farther from certain people in your life. Going forward I am going to start treating my feelings with more care. If someone continues to disrespect you and let you down, most likely it is time to move on. You Dont Deserve That!!
  • Try different outlets for studying and personal growth. We are people are creatures of habit. Change can be scary! It can be uncomfortable. If you didn’t pass that NMHCE the first, second or third time (Yes, I am talking from experience)… its ok girl… try to change up your routine a bit. Instead of studying in a room, study at a local coffee shop. Make that weekly routine for yourself and reduce your distractions (sorry… no studying at the dog park or while catching up with your girlfriends over a cocktail. We got this!
  • Become more comfortable asking for help. This is a HUGE one for myself. I have always had a difficult time asking for help. I know!! I should be an expert at this because I am a Mental Health Therapist! I am going to really make a conscious effort to ask for more help this upcoming year when I am struggling. Let’s do this together, girl! The other day my fiance asked me, “Can I help?” Those simple words caused me to have the biggest smile! It is ok to ask for help.
  • Take a break. This coming year I am going to really work on being more gentle and understanding to myself. I deserve it. YOU deserve it! Our culture puts a lot of pressure on us to work…work…work! Personally, I will always have that “hard worker” mentality (Where are my Capricorns at?) but I need to make the conscious effort for self-care. I am going to say “NO” more often and not feel guilty about it. I am a “Yes Girl” but not for long.
  • Keep a clean work-space and home-A clean house is so important to me now. Some people reading my blog will giggle at this. Two years ago I was more messy and less organized than I am today. I am still messy… let’s not beat around the bush but I have improved. I am going to work on finding that extra time in the morning to organize my work area and to complete 1-2 chores before starting my work day (Who else is working from home these days?)
  • Grow this blog– Writing has been a passion of mine for over 20 years. From the ages of 10-15 years old, I was into making “Doll Layouts” and “NeoPet Guilds.” Who remembers these days? Anyways, I finally have resumed this passion of mine and am so excited to learn new blogging techniques, coding and connecting with all of YOU! I want to share and create a lot of content so you all can use this blog as a valuable resource

I hope this gave you all some inspiration, reassurance and hope for the upcoming year of 2021. You aren’t alone in your goals and thoughts.

Please share with me your goals for the upcoming year! If you aren’t too sure about your goals at the moment, that is perfectly fine too. It’s a process!

I look forward to hearing from you all.

Love always wins,

Hilary K
