First of all, Congratulations and take a moment to soak in the fact that “You are getting married!”

Becoming engaged and picking out a magical and whimsical dress is a dream many girls have and carry with them to adulthood.

However, there are definitely some aspects of “Picking the Perfect Wedding Dress” that aren’t spoken about as much as they should be.

Don’t worry…I am here to create a magical experience with you!

1.Do not become alarmed if you walk into a bridal store and you are provided with dresses that are 2-3 sizes larger than your normal dress size. This will happen! If I had known this before going dress shopping, I feel my initial experience would have been a bit more pleasant.

I remember the women handing me all sizes 12 and saying to myself, “Wow…she must think I am fat.” FAT! I hate that word…we will get to that on a different blog post. 😉

Expecting to be handed size 8 dresses and then all dresses being a size 12-14 can be discouraging.

I get it! Just know you are not alone in this!

Disclaimer: No shame in crossing out that size and replacing it with the size you want it to be!

Your worth is not defined by a number.

2. Be aware that different wedding dress styles are suited best for specific body shapes.

However, try not to be so fixated on a certain style of dress before trying on different styles.

Enjoy the process and try on some wedding dresses “just for fun.”

I remember going dress shopping with my mother and thinking, “I would never wear a Ball Gown, I am going to get a Mermaid.”

Guess which style of dress I bought?

You guessed it… A Ball Gown and I tried it on just for fun!

Here is a brief wedding dress and body type outline for any readers interested:

1.Apple Shaped- Empire, Ball Gown & Trumpet

2. Hourglass- Mermaid, A-line/Princess & Sheath

3. Inverted Triangle- Ball Gown & A-Line

4. Pear- Trumped, A-Line/Princess & Ball Gown

5. Straight- Sheath, Empire & Ball Gown

Hoping that these top 2 tips will provide all future brides with more hope and confidence.

Remember, you aren’t alone in your thoughts.

I would love to hear about any other “tips and trick” past or future brides would like to share.

As always…

Love always wins,

Hilary
